I sent off the darn draft of my paper last Friday so I was able to enjoy the long weekend work-free (though in hindsight that was prob also not smart). My friends Amanda and Bill are getting married in May, and her bridal shower was last Saturday at the beautiful Salt Creek Grille in Rumson, NJ (shout out to Amanda Grace - I pointed out your high school when we drove by). The food was delicious and we played wedding trivia and bingo! They also had lottery scratch offs as favors but sadly I didn’t come home with cash money.

We celebrated my dad’s birthday that night with dinner at Outback. We tried to surprise him with the cake when we got home but he was on to us and said “I knew you were getting it ready, plus we do this for every birthday.” Touche dad.
Rachel also kept pestering me to take her to this new frozen yogurt place in my town called Cups. We eventually checked it out and I went to town with all the cookie toppings. Dee-lish.

And we were finally able to see a show at Birdland Jazz Club on Sunday night. I admit that jazz isn’t really my cup of tea, but I did enjoy the show, especially because it featured Cyrille Aimee, who is an amazing jazz singer. Most importantly, Vince really enjoyed the show and said he thought the band, especially the pianist, was really good. Only downside was that the food, which was pretty standard, is a bit pricey - my meal, just a crab cake sandwich and a glass of wine, came out to about $28. The NY Times recently did a piece on Cyrille and the Surreal Band, and I’d definitely recommend the place for jazz lovers.

enjoying the show :)
